Dungeness Ruins
Once the home of Thomas Carnegie, brother and partner of Andrew Carnegie, the palatial mansion which is now in ruins, is nonetheless impressive. Walk among the ruins of the mansion and nearby homes, stables, churches, and cemeteries along with the wild horses that freely roam the island. Other buildings, such as the Ice Block House, which contains a museum, have been restored. An interesting walk back in time, it is well worth the Amazing Mile Marker Stop!
Turn north at marker red 34. Anchor in Cumberland Sound and dinghy to the Ice House Dock also called the Dungenness Dock.
